Edit selected categories

The organization of your files into categories and category trees allows you to stringently classify your media inventory based on criteria that you define yourself.
You can define as many category trees and categories as you like.

What are categories and category trees? How do I edit categories, for example to rename or reorder them. We describe these points in this chapter of our documentation.

Be it a thematic classification, a classification by department, or a classification by quality (and consequently the usability of the material in different media), or be it a purely company-internal classification (e.g. based on the department of the employee who uploaded the file): You have the choice and full control over the structure and categories in your Manja installation.

 

Edit categories

Provided you have appropriate permissions, you can edit selected properties of the categories within the Media section.

This possibility is available in “browse” and “filter” mode.

In “browse” mode you can edit the categories on the right side of the result list by right-clicking “Edit” or, as in “filter” mode, by right-clicking on the category name.

You need either the administrator role, or a manager role and the “edit categories” permission for the corresponding category.

To edit a category, open the context menu directly at the category in the media overview page and click

To edit a category, click the category in the category tree on the left, and then click Edit in the context menu.

Set category image

Click with the right mouse button on the appropriate category within the result list. In the context menu that appears, select the entry “Preview Image”.

In the dialog that appears you can select a new preview image for the category, or you can remove an already existing one.

Each category can be provided with a preview image. This serves e.g. the faster recognition of the content and is optional. For this purpose, the category is edited and a preview image is uploaded.

Reorder categories

Click with the right mouse button on the appropriate category within the result list. In the context menu that appears, select the entry “Resort”.

In the dialog that appears you can change the order of categories within the parent category. Use the handle next to the respective category to move it to a new position.

Alternatively you can also switch back to an alphabetical order or its recursive variation.

Categories can be re-sorted within a category tree. To do this, select the
